Popular ingredients used in Haiti are Calabaza or squash, Cassava, Chayote, Conch, Coriander, and millet. Those are just to name a few. Rice is the starch of choice however yams are cooked with a lot of meals as well.
DISHES
- Riz colle aux pois or Rice with Red Kidney Beans, is a popular dish in Haiti. It's prepared and glazed with marinade and topped with red snapper tomatoes and onions.
- Legume Haitien, or thick vegetable soup is also popular. This soup is prepared with eggplant, cabbage, chayote. spinach, and watercress.
